One from 1952 and one from 1960:

http://socialiststandardmyspace.blogspot.com/2016/07/party-news-briefs-1952_94.html

http://socialiststandardmyspace.blogspot.com/2015/10/party-news-1960.html

If there are other mentions of the Branch in the pages of the Standard from that period I will eventually get around to posting them on the blog if and when I spot them.Imposs1904https://www.blogger.com/profile/04043116442576404667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6903281042242791813.post-87768692562122682762017-07-08T17:23:49.308-04:002017-07-08T17:23:49.308-04:00There is no mention of Islington Branch in the art...There is no mention of Islington Branch in the article, so that explains why there is no label for Islington Branch for the accompanying article. If you click on the Islington Branch label on the side bar you'll note that all the articles and reviews connected to 'SPGB Islington Branch' cover the Branch from 1904 onwards, through all its changes and permutations.

If there is a lack of entries for Islington Branch from the 1950s on the blog, that will be for one of two reasons.

One: There's little or no mention of Islington Branch activities from that period in the pages of the Socialist Standard. That's the source material I'm working from.

Two: Alternatively, if there does happen to be mentions of Branch activity in the pages of Standard from the 50s and 60s and they are not on the blog, that's because I haven't got round to it yet or spotted them. But now that you mention it, I will be on the look out for them.

And, just to clear it up once and for all, if you look through the blog you'll note that I've posted on the internet for the first time hundreds of Socialist Standard articles and reviews from SPGB members who were part of the two branches who were expelled from the SPGB in the early 90s. There is no 'sectarian' objection at this end.

Cheers for checking out the blog.

No ulterior motive at this end on what is largely a personal project done under my own steam.Imposs1904https://www.blogger.com/profile/04043116442576404667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6903281042242791813.post-81989215759856614452017-07-08T14:06:22.800-04:002017-07-08T14:06:22.800-04:00I remember Bob Ambridge back in the 1950s. After Branch meetings Bob and other members used to gather to continue our discussions in a nearby caff. And Bob was very keen to help younger members, and like Jim to encourage them to study and become writers or speakers.
Very surprised that there is no link here to that Islington Branch - at that time one of the largest and most active in the London area.
Or is there some 'sectarian' objection to mention of that branch?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
