Party News from the September 1985 issue of the Socialist Standard
Belfast Branch of the World Socialist Party (Ireland) recently held what must rank as one of its most successful public meetings to date. On 26 June, 50 people crowded into the main room of the party offices to hear the arguments for socialism put in a lucid fashion by a visiting London speaker Our monthly meetings are now advertised by widespread postering and leaflet distribution. with the result that each of our last six meetings has attracted more visitors than the previous one. Our literature stand is situated at Corn Market — a busy pedestrian thoroughfare in the heart of the city centre every Saturday afternoon and Thursday evening. From here we are able to distribute hundreds of copies of an Open Letter to the Workers of Northern Ireland—the party's response to the local council elections—and sell a wide range of socialist publications. So. in spite of our size we are certainly making our presence felt.

The visiting London speaker in June was Steve Coleman. More details below from the June 1985 issue of the Socialist Standard.
