From the November 1968 issue of the Socialist Standard

No democratic society in the world — or, for that matter, any other society — has ever succeeded in achieving, all at the same time, full employment, economic growth, price stability, rising wages and increasing social spending" (Labour's mid-term Manifesto, 29 September 1968)
I'm guessing the inclusion of this excerpt in the Socialist Standard is for sarcasm's sake. If memory serves me right the Labour Party suffered a horrendous defeat in the 1968 local elections, losing heartland councils which had been Labour for generations.
