At a meeting of the Battersea Branch, Comrade Barker, of the Tooting Branch, was adopted as prospective candidate of the Socialist Party of Great Britain for Battersea.
It now remains for those who desire to see our candidate go to the polls to give practical effect to their wishes by swelling the Parliamentary Fund to the required dimensions.
As we pointed out originally, our candidate will go to the polls if we are provided with sufficient funds to carry the business through.

The SPGB never did get round to putting up a candidate at the 1929 General Election. (Lack of Party funds.)
A couple of point:
1) There were a couple of Party members named Barker in Tooting branch during this period, so I'm not sure who the Barker was who was selected as the prospective parliamentary candidate for the SPGB.
2) The 'Battersea' constituency in the 20s was split into two seats, so I'm not sure if the Party was planning on contesting Battersea North or Battersea South. If it had been Battersea North, they would have been sitting against the sitting Communist MP, Shapurji Saklatvala.
PS - That's February 1929 done and dusted.
