April's "Done & Dusted"

I started last month all guns blazing. I thought it was going to be a bumper month for finished Socialist Standard but, alas, life intervened. I can only seek to do better in May.

A "Done & Dusted" catch up special

"Another late 'dust and dusted'. Sorry about that. Me and the laptop are currently caught up in health scares. It'll be curious to see what pegs out first. (Only joking  . . . the laptop's in better condition than me.)" [From here.]

The beauty of being consistent in your tardiness is that you can fall back on previous excuses and reach for the old cut and paste. And, if a joke's worth telling, it's worth telling seven or eight times. Flog those self-deprecating lines to death.

Four months to catch up on. Sounds a lot but, as you'll note, it only adds up to 24 Standards. Moving forward, I'm probably going to move away from particular months when finishing old Standards. It has got to the stage now where certain decades are all but completed and I just want to engage in a kind of 'mop-up' operation. I don't want to be tied down too much on trying to find April Standards to finish in the month of April. If I want to pore over a particular period 'cos that's currently caught my interest, then that's is what I'm going to do. Don't worry, if you can't cut through my waffling, it'll make more sense further down the line.

Okay, here's the catch up. Usual schtick . . . click on the months for the full issues.:

November's "Done & Dusted"

A quiet month for finished Socialist Standards. Not sure what happened. Actually, I know what happened; life happened. I didn't get to knock it out the park for November. December beckons.

October's "Done & Dusted"

A half decent month for finished Socialist Standards. I could have done better. I could always do better. I'll try and knock it out the park for November and December.

September's "Done & Dusted"

Unfortunately, September was a quiet month for completed Socialist Standards after the three previous months which were pretty solid. Things — life — got a bit hectic away from the blog but, hopefully, for the final three months of the year I can, at a bare minimum, surpass 2024's total of 1359 posts and, better still, get at least 1500 posts on the blog.

We'll see what happens.

August's "Done & Dusted"

Another bumper 'Done & Dusted'. Nice to have two back to back. But . . . and it's a big but . . . it could have been so much sweeter if I'd just done a handful more before the end of the month. (All will be revealed.)

All the Standards completed on the blog in the month of August.

June's "Done & Dusted"

All things considered, a half-decent 'Done & Dusted' for once. It happens occasionally . . . it has to happen more frequently.

All the Standards completed on the blog in the month of June.

A sparse "Done & Dusted" catch up special

For my excuses for the lateness - and the sparseness - of this 'Done & Dusted' post I refer you back to my previous answer. I can't really add to that. Maybe June will be better  . . . and maybe Donald Trump and Elon Musk will make up . . . stranger things have happened.

A "Done & Dusted" catch up special

Another late 'dust and dusted'. Sorry about that. Me and the laptop are currently caught up in health scares. It'll be curious to see what pegs out first. (Only joking  . . . the laptop's in better condition than me.)

December 2024 was actually a fruitful month for the blog. The less said about January and February of this year the better.

A "Done & Dusted" catch up special

A bit late in the month. Apologies for that. Got caught up in all the United Healthcare memes. There were just so many.

October was a bit of a ghost month, but I tried to make up for it in November. (Doing even better in December.)

September's "Done & Dusted"

Unfortunately, I went a bit AWOL for part of September. Apologies for that but real life intervened. I hate it when that happens.

Anyway, Hey-Ho — do people still say 'Hey-Ho' or am I away with the fairies in a Wodehouse World? — I was able to post a handful of completed Socialist Standards on the blog in September. I need to up my game for the last quarter of the year. At a bare minimum, I'd like to end the year with at least 1500 posts on the blog for 2024.

April's "Done & Dusted"

An even quieter month than last month. Only 5 Socialist Standards "done and dusted" in April.

In fairness to myself, I have been trying to do other 'Party work' elsewhere in the last month. But that other stuff is a work in progress, and it's too soon to say anything more at this point. However, it is disappointing that I didn't finish more April Standards, as there's not that many Standards from the month of April to complete now. It possibly could have been the first month in this digitisation project to be fully finished.

The finished Standards are broken up into separate decades for the hard of hearing.

March's "Done & Dusted"

Another quiet month. Only 9 Socialist Standards 'done and dusted' in March. Life can't help but get in the way sometimes. I did, however, also add three new pages to the blog so that's a bonus, and it's a pointer to future features on the blog. Added below the links to the finished Standards is the details of those new pages.

February's "Done & Dusted"

Another quiet month. Only 14 Socialist Standards 'done and dusted' in February. However, I do have my ready-made excuses at hand: the 'easier' Standards are all but completed at this point, so more *cough* work is necessary now when putting Standards on the blog, and it is also the case that more time has been given over to developing new features for the blog - more to follow - and that eaten into what time I have to scan in material.

I am pleased that some of those completed Standards are from the Edwardian period. Despite the fact that these are Standards that were already scanned in by ALB, and are already on the SPGB's website, they still take quite a bit of time to put on the blog because I do like to put the extra time in adding links for incidents and individuals mentioned in the articles. I believe it aids the reader.

January's "Done & Dusted"

A relatively quiet month. Only 10 Socialist Standards 'done and dusted' in January. I'm not sure if I was just being lazy or it's a further indication that I'm running out of Standards to complete. I need to try and work out how many are still do. Okay, that's enough thinking out loud for one post.

Cue cut and paste . . .

What is now a regular feature on the blog . . . okay, you've already read this bit before so I'll scrub the rest of this paragraph. (Note to self: come up with some new schtick for next month's "Done & Dusted".)

Here's a list of the Socialist Standards that were completed on the blog in the month of December 2023. Slowly but surely the digitization of the Standard is *cough* nearing completion. If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say it will be finished by the end of 2024  2029. Famous last words, and all that.

December's "Done & Dusted"

A late one this month. It happens.

Cue cut and paste . . .

December's "Done & Dusted"

Another 19 down.

At some point in the future I need to tot up the total of how many Socialist Standards there are still to be completed. It'll be in the hundreds but it'd be nice to get a gist of where I'm at on the digitisation of the Standard project.

November's "Done & Dusted"

Not as late as last month . . . there is that, I guess

November's "Done & Dusted"

I need to set aside some time for posting some more Standards from the Edwardian era on the blog. Not sure why I'm hanging back. Maybe there's only so many poison pen letters to John Burns and Will Thorne that I can take in a six-month period.

Will I smash through 2000 posts for 2023? It's looking unlikely at this point. Maybe I'll stumble across a batch of ProPlus in a local pharmacy and go on a four-day blogging frenzy. Stranger things have happened.
