Party News from the October 1937 issue of the Socialist Standard
Blogger's Note:
Unlike the SPGB Lecture Lists from the pre-WW1 era, this speaking list unfortunately doesn't carry the speakers' forename initials, so it is too difficult to work out who the more obscure speakers are.
For example, down the decades there's been quite a few Walkers in the SPGB, so I can't be sure who this Walker is who is listed. 'Otto' was most likely a pseudonym and I don't have any info on 'Nesbit', but they must have been viewed as an able Party speaker if they were speaking on the party platform in Hyde Park on a Sunday. That platform always drew the mass crowds. 'Reginald' was the party name of Augustus Snellgrove.
'Banks' was probably Jimmy Banks, who was an SPGBer active in South London, and Rushcroft Road was a speaking pitch in Brixton. He originally joined the Battersea Branch of the SPGB during World War One, and passed away in late 1966. His obituary appeared in the February 1967 issue of the Socialist Standard.
