"What agonizing thoughts . . . " (1953)

From the September 1953 issue of the Socialist Standard

What agonizing thoughts must sweep

     The doubting Christian mind

When reason waking from her sleep

      Immortal God to find

With drooping faith and frantic pain

Scans the wide universe in vain.
